International Volunteer Day: Promoting Youth Engagement and Mentorship

International Volunteer Day: Promoting Youth Engagement and Mentorship
Since 2017, when volunteering was institutionalized for the first time in Kosovo through the Administrative Instruction on Voluntary Work and the creation of the KOVO platform with the assistance of the UNICEF Kosovo Programme in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, more than 12,000 volunteers have registered on the platform.

This figure demonstrates the strong willingness of young people in Kosovo to contribute to their communities while gaining professional experience and developing new skills.

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, the Executive Director of Kosovo CSR Network, Linda Tahiri, presented the newest mentorship platform https://mentorship4youth.net/
during an event organized by the UNICEF Kosovo Programme in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kosovo Volunteers and Lens.

The “Mentoring Scheme” project, implemented by Kosovo CSR Network and funded by the UNICEF Kosovo Programme, aims to mentor up to 700 young adolescents. Through this scheme, young people are supported in strengthening their skills and increasing their opportunities to participate in the workforce, policy making and decision making processes.

Kosovo CSR Network strongly encourages professionals from the private sector who believe that Corporate Social Responsibility should be integrated into business practices to apply as volunteer mentors.
